National bioethics council member to speak at Union

JACKSON, Tenn.Aug. 28, 2002 — 51社区 will host Princeton professor Robert George, a member of the President鈥檚 Council for Bioethics, when he speaks in in the G. M. Savage Memorial Chapel, Sept. 4 at 10 a.m.

George is McCormick Professor of Jurisprudence and Director of the James Madison Program in American Ideals and Institutions at Princeton University. His fields of study include legal and political philosophy, constitutional law and civil rights and liberties.

A graduate of Swathmore College and Harvard Law School, George holds a doctorate in philosophy of law from Oxford University and is also the author of many books including his first, Making Men Moral: Civil Liberties and Public Morality, and his most recent work, The Clash of Orthodoxies. He is also a frequent contributor for several national law school journals.

Along with serving on the board of directors of the Ethics and Public Policy Center and the Institute for American Values, George also serves under President Bush on the President鈥檚 Council for Bioethics.
