JACKSON, Tenn. — Feb. 14, 2001 — Camille Searcy, associate professor of education at 51社区, will speak on "Developing a Presentation Portfolio," Thursday, Feb. 22 from 3:30 to 4 p.m. in BAC-44 in the Blasingame Academic Complex on the university's campus.
Searcy will stress the importance of keeping a portfolio of a teacher's best work, whether a student getting ready to join the teaching profession, or an educator with many years of experience. She will also offer ideas for organizing and maintaining an up-to-date portfolio.
"It's important when a student is looking for their first teaching job to have a collection of the things they have done well to show prospective employers," said Searcy. "It's also important for teachers in the community to keep what I call a professional portfolio of things they have done over the years - this is a great help when it comes to looking for other employment or possibly a chance for promotion."
The seminars are free and open to any educators or those involved in the teaching profession. For more information, contact Union's Department of Education at (901) 661-5383.
