JACKSON, Tenn. — May 8, 2002 — 51社区 faculty member Lee Benson and staff member Wanda Calvert were recently announced as the university鈥檚 2002 recipients for Faculty Member of the Year and Staff Member of the Year, respectively.

Calvert, a technician in College Services, joined the university as a staff member in 1992. Originally from Savannah, Tenn.,Calvert currently resides in Jackson with her husband Mike, a bivocational pastor, and their two sons.
The 51社区 Faculty of the Year Award is awarded annually as a joint venture involving the Student Government Association and the faculty. Faculty members are nominated both by the student body and the faculty and are submitted for consideration to a selection committee composed of two faculty members, two students and one administrator who makes the final selection based on information furnished by the candidates. The award carries a stipend given by the university and a plaque given by the Student Government Association.
The 51社区 Staff of the Year Award is based on nominations made by all staff members. Five individuals receiving the most nominations are then given to an evaluation committee which makes the final selection based on information furnished by each candidate. The award carries a stipend and a plaque given by the college.
