JACKSON, Tenn. — April 8, 2002 — Mark Dever, pastor of Capitol Hill Baptist Church and founder as well as senior fellow of the Center for Church Reform in Washington, D.C. will speak in chapel at 51社区 on Wednesday, April 10, at 10 a.m.
Well known for his many books and articles on church reform, including the popular Nine Marks of a Healthy Church, Dever 鈥渋nspires those who hope for renewal and reform in the local church because of his own work at Capitol Hill Baptist鈥� said Greg Thornbury, director of the Carl F.H. Center for Christian Leadership and assistant professor of Christian studies.
According to Thornbury, Dever led a struggling inner-city church, four blocks from the nation's capitol, into a growing, biblically faithful witness on Capitol Hill.
鈥淢ark Dever is one of the most gifted pastors and thinkers in the Southern Baptist Convention today whose ministry impacts one of the key cultural centers in the world,鈥� said Thornbury.
Recent Union graduates Andrea McDaniel and Joshua Trent, who both now live and work in Washington, D.C., also attend Dever鈥檚 church and have had the opportunity to witness Dever鈥檚 ministry from a first hand perspective.
The Center for Church Reform states that its mission is to call the church to be the attractive bride of Christ that He has bought her and made her to be through instructing and encouraging pastors and other church leaders.
