JACKSON, Tenn. — March 27, 2002 — 51社区 will send 22 members of its Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) chapter from ten different disciplines across campus to compete in the regional competition in St. Louis, Mo. Friday, April 12. Last year, Union鈥檚 chapter won the regional competition and went on to compete nationally, placing in the top 16.
Completing more than 19 projects this year, Union鈥檚 SIFE team will highlight nine of their most influential projects at the competition including programs such as Junior SIFE, SIFEOPOLY, Global Business Fair, IRS Destress, Responsible Use of Credit Week and others. More than 5000 hours were contributed by student members in order to make the projects a success.
SIFE chapters are represented on more than 1000 college campuses internationally. Competition between participating colleges motivate students to teach the concept of free enterprise well. Regional competition begins in the spring with more than 700 teams competing in 19 U.S. cities and 10 other countries. SIFE teams will present 24-minute multi-media summaries of the educational outreach projects they developed and implemented throughout the year. More than 750 of the nation鈥檚 top business leaders will be on hand to judge these presentations. Many times, students are recruited by these leaders for management positions in their national companies.
