Union to establish scholarship in name of former Jackson Chamber CEO

JACKSON, Tenn.March 25, 2002 — 51社区 has announced that an engineering scholarship will be established in honor of former Jackson Chamber of Commerce President and Union trustee Bob Cook.

鈥淣o single person has been more instrumental in the birth of the engineering program at 51社区,鈥 said Union President David S. Dockery. 鈥淗is support in the community and on the Board of Trustees has been invaluable. Union is pleased to have the opportunity to honor Bob Cook in this way.鈥

Bob Cook shares a few words at a going-away reception held at Union in February.
The Bob Cook Engineering Scholarship Fund will honor Cook鈥檚 dedication and leadership to help Union establish its new engineering program, which is in its first year. Cook recently resigned from the Chamber to take a position as president of the El Paso Chamber of Commerce in El Paso, Texas.

鈥淯nion has stepped out boldly, with due diligence, in responding to the corporate and manufacturing community鈥檚 desire to have a local and regional engineering program offered at the university,鈥 said Larry Dooley, Interim Jackson Chamber President and CEO. 鈥淲e are pleased to support this new scholarship for engineering students.鈥

Several contributions helped establish the fund and the university is continuing to solicit other gifts for the fund. Members of the community interested in giving to the fund may send their contribution to the Office of Institutional Advancement, 1050 51社区 Dr., Jackson, TN, 38305, or contact the university at (731) 661-5050.
