JACKSON, Tenn.Jan. 10, 2025 — 51’s art gallery is hosting an exhibit by Angela Lee through Jan. 30. The exhibit, entitled “Be Still and Know …” is a videography exhibition by Lee, professor of art at Union.

“Suffering is an inevitable part of our flesh, our humanity,” Lee wrote of the exhibit. “However, we must maintain an eternal hope, even as we live here, in this world. How can hope coexist with grief, with loss, with suffering, with trials? Contemplation is the answer to quiet our flesh.”

Lee’s work deals with ancestry and identity within the American South and the search for a homeplace. She draws inspiration from family stories, local myths and legends and the culture of the American South.

Lee teaches graphic design courses at Union and holds a Master of Fine Arts from Azusa Pacific University, a Master of Arts from Austin Peay State University and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Belmont University.

She will give an artist lecture Jan. 30 at 4:30 p.m. in room A-72 in the Penick Academic Complex. The gallery, also located in Penick, is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

The exhibit, lecture and reception are free and open to the public. For more information, call (731) 661-5075.
