JACKSON, Tenn. — March 21, 2002 — Seven art and photography students from 51社区 will host an art exhibit of pinhole photographs at the West Tennessee Regional Art Center, Inc. in Humboldt, Tenn. The name of the exhibit is 鈥淐anned Images.鈥� Students submitting work include Shelley Camardese, Summer Highley, Joshua Wagner, Rebecca McDowell, David Phillips, Mindie Bennet and Robert Johnson.
Photography that is created with hand-built cameras, pinhole cameras can be made out of any box or can that is made to be light tight. By punching a small hole through one side of the camera which functions as the camera lens, a negative can then be placed inside the camera and the hole left uncovered allowing the negative to be exposed. The resulting images have a certain softness which is a unique characteristic of this type of photography.
The show will be open to the public Tuesday, April 2 鈥� Tuesday, April 30 from 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The West Tennessee Art Center is located at 1200 Main St. Humboldt, Tenn. The show will be curated by Debra Gordon, visiting assistant professor of art at Union.
