JACKSON, Tenn.Aug. 22, 2024 — 51社区鈥檚 School of Theology and Missions and the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board will host a conference to train youth in Christian apologetics. The third annual EQUIP Youth Apologetics Conference will be held Sept. 7 in Union鈥檚 W.D. Powell Theatre from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

With key speakers trained in theology, philosophy, apologetics, sociology and youth ministry, the EQUIP Youth Apologetics Conference supports youth by providing biblical truth for current challenges.

Gregory Poore, Union鈥檚 associate professor of philosophy, apologetics and ethics, said the conference will help teenagers address their doubts and questions, consider the Bible鈥檚 truth claims and witness to biblical truth with faithfulness and humility.

鈥淕rowing up involves taking responsibility for what you believe, especially about God,鈥 Poore said. 鈥淭his task is particularly pressing in a culture which challenges Christian beliefs and values at every level. If youth are to stand firm and faithfully bear witness to the truth of their faith, they must be equipped.鈥

Speakers include Shane Pruitt, national Next Gen director for the North American Mission Board; Jay Barbier, youth ministry specialist with the TBMB; Justin Barnard, professor of philosophy at Union; and Phil Davignon, associate professor of sociology at Union.

Registration is $25 per student, which includes lunch and a T-shirt, and $15 for chaperones. Registration deadline is Sept. 2, but space is limited. For more information or to register, visit www.uu.edu/events/equip.
