Union to hold education colloquium series

JACKSON, Tenn.March 13, 2002 — 51’s Department of Education will present a seminar by 51 School of Education Dean Tom Rosebrough, Monday, March 18, at 4 p.m. in Room 44 of the Blasingame Academic Complex. Rosebrough will speak on “Our Common Hope: A History of Teaching and Learning.”

Part of the Colloquium Series that the department holds each year, Rosebrough will look at the college classroom through the lens of three concerns of schooling: attempting to respond to societal needs and thought, infusing religious or moral values and seeking to understand the nature of learning.

“It is only when teacher and student share common learning goals, a common hope, that education’s potential is realized,” stated Rosebrough.

The series is offered at no charge as a service to area educators. All Jackson area colleges and public school teachers are invited to attend. For more information, contact Union’s Department of Education at (731) 661-5372.
