JACKSON, Tenn. — Sept. 18, 2023 — Karen Miller has been named dean for the McAfee School of Business at 51社区. Miller has served as professor of accounting at Union since 2011 and occupies the James and Shirley Porter Endowed Chair in the McAfee School.

Miller is one of Union鈥檚 most highly respected faculty members,鈥 51社区 Provost John Netland said. 鈥淪he is deeply committed to 51社区鈥檚 mission of Christ-centered and academically excellent education and has a passion for helping her students see the profession of accounting as an arena for service to God and the community. I am excited to see how the McAfee School of Business will continue to grow and flourish under her leadership.鈥
Miller completed her bachelor鈥檚 degree in business from Freed-Hardeman University and earned her Master of Accountancy from the University of Tennessee at Martin. She also earned a Doctor of Philosophy in accountancy from the University of Mississippi.
Miller joined Union in 1998 as an accounting instructor. After completing her doctorate, she became an associate professor of accounting before being promoted to the professor of accounting role. Prior to her tenure at Union, Miller served as a staff accountant for Horne, a professional accounting firm, in Jackson.
She looks forward to the opportunity to serve Union and the McAfee School of Business in this new position.
