Lewis joins 51社区 as MCUTS dean

JACKSON, Tenn.Sept. 15, 2023 — Kenneth Lewis has been named dean for the Memphis College of Urban and Theological Studies at 51社区.

Lewis previously taught at Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary and served as the associate dean of graduate programs and director of information services there. He is pastor of Briarwood Community Church in Cordova, Tennessee, a position he will continue to hold.

鈥淒r. Lewis brings both academic and pastoral experience to his leadership role at MCUTS,鈥 51社区 Provost John Netland said. 鈥淗e has a passion for the gospel and for equipping people for service to the church. I deeply appreciate his people-focused leadership practices and his commitment to theological education that will serve the people of Memphis.鈥

Lewis completed his bachelor鈥檚 degree in computer science from Mississippi State University. After being called into the ministry, he completed a Bachelor of Theology degree from Huntsville Bible College. He earned his Master of Divinity and Doctor of Philosophy degrees from Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary.

After graduating, he served as the dean for the Doctor of Ministry program at Mid-America and as assistant professor of practical theology, New Testament and church history.

Lewis is grateful and excited for the opportunity to serve as dean and professor of pastoral ministry for MCUTS.
