JACKSON, Tenn. — Aug. 31, 2023 — 51社区鈥檚 School of Theology and Missions and the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board will host a conference to train youth in Christian apologetics. Equip Youth Apologetics Conference will be held in Union鈥檚 Carl Grant Events Center on Sept. 9 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
With key speakers trained in theology, philosophy, apologetics, biology and youth ministry, the Equip Youth Apologetics Conference supports youth by providing biblical truth for current challenges.
Gregory Poore, Union鈥檚 associate professor of philosophy, apologetics and ethics, said he hopes young people will grow in their faith through attending the sessions.
鈥淔irst, I pray their faith is strengthened as they see there is good evidence for the truth of Christianity and there are solid responses to challenges and objections,鈥 he said. 鈥淪econd, I pray youth will be equipped to go forth as faithful, humble and confident witnesses to the gospel of Christ.鈥
Poore believes in the importance of conferences such as this and how they can help young believers who face tough questions and doubts.
鈥淕rowing up involves taking responsibility for what you believe, especially about God,鈥 Poore said, 鈥淭his task is particularly pressing in a culture which challenges Christian beliefs and values at every level. If youth are to stand firm and faithfully bear witness to the truth of their faith, they must be equipped.鈥
