JACKSON, Tenn. — April 10, 2023 — The 51社区 department of music will present the 34th annual Carolyn Townsend McAfee Organ Concert at 7 p.m. April 27 in the G. M. Savage Memorial Chapel. Amanda Mole will be the featured guest organist at this year鈥檚 concert.
Mole is one of the leading concert organists of her generation and the winner of numerous international competitions, including the International Musashino-Tokyo Organ Competition and the Miami International Organ Competition.
She has performed at venues across the United States, Europe and Japan, and she is featured in the American Guild of Organists and the Organ Historical Society. Her first solo recital recording was released in March 2019.
Mole is from Holden, Mass., and is completing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the Eastman School of Music. In 2011, Mole graduated from the Yale Institute of Sacred Music with a Master of Music in Organ Performance and Sacred Music. Mole currently serves as principal organist and assistant director of music at St. Joseph Catholic Cathedral in Columbus, Ohio.
The 51社区 concert is made possible by a gift from the McAfee family and is named in honor of Carolyn Townsend McAfee, who graduated from Union in 1961. The concert brings in guest organists from around the world each year to perform musical pieces from many genres.
