JACKSON, Tenn.Feb. 4, 2022 — 51社区鈥檚 College of Pharmacy has launched an accelerated track that will allow students to complete their Doctor of Pharmacy degree in three and a half years.

By taking elective courses during the summer months of their first and second professional years, this new track will allow pharmacy students to enter practice sooner while completing the same number of credit hours as the traditional four-year program. The new track will begin in the fall of 2022.

鈥淲e are excited for the flexibility this will allow our students,鈥 said Sheila Mitchell, dean of Union鈥檚 College of Pharmacy. 鈥淣ot only will our program produce top-quality professionals, it will also enable students to enter the workforce more quickly than other programs.鈥

Students pursuing a Doctor of Pharmacy degree at Union will be able to select the accelerated track upon admission.

鈥淚t is important to us to maintain our standard of academic excellence,鈥 Mitchell said. 鈥淲e are thrilled that curricular expectations will remain the same, but students will now have options regarding schedule and pace.鈥
