JACKSON, Tenn. — Nov. 16, 2020 — 51’s Department of Music will present its annual Christmas concert Nov. 19 at 7 p.m. in the G.M. Savage Memorial Chapel.
This year’s concert is entitled “A Thankful Christmas at Union” and will include Christmas favorites performed by Union’s choral ensembles and orchestra. The event was scheduled prior to Thanksgiving because of all the uncertainties the community is navigating, said John Kinchen, chair of the Department of Music and director for choral activities.
Despite the challenges of the year and the many concerns that linger, Kinchen said believers in Jesus Christ have much to be thankful for.
“It is our desire that we, as a community, will take this moment to turn our hearts and express our gratitude to our Savior and our God for his certainty and grace,” he said. “We hope that this will be an encouragement to all who come as we celebrate a thankful Christmas.”
The concert is free and open to the public, but audience size is limited to 300 so that all attendees can social distance safely. Registration is required for attendance and will close at 12 p.m. the day of the concert. Register for free at www.uu.edu/dept/music/events/. A limited number of tickets will be available at the door. For more information, contact Kelly Maust at (731) 661-5345 or kmaust@uu.edu.
