JACKSON, Tenn. — May 29, 2020 — Classes for the fall semester at 51社区 will meet on campus and in-person, with the university taking necessary safety precautions to protect students, faculty and staff from COVID-19.
鈥淲e鈥檙e excited to welcome new and returning students back to campus in the fall,鈥� Union President Samuel W. 鈥淒ub鈥� Oliver said. 鈥淥ur students thrive in the Christ-centered community they find at Union, and we鈥檙e looking forward to seeing that community re-established as we continue to provide students with an excellent education.鈥�
The university is still working on logistics, and task teams are in place to develop plans for classroom space, on-campus dining, housekeeping and other matters. Oliver said Union鈥檚 on-campus housing, with a private bedroom for each student and separate entrances into each apartment, provides a safe place for students to live and study.
鈥淲e are committed to the safety and welfare of our students and the broader Union community,鈥� Oliver said. 鈥淲e are already practicing, and will continue to practice, safety measures recommended by the Centers for Disease Control as well as the state and local health departments.鈥�
New students will move onto campus Aug. 14, with residence complexes opening for returning students on Aug. 16. Classes are scheduled to begin Aug. 18.
