JACKSON, Tenn.Feb. 14, 2020 — Don Carson, emeritus professor of New Testament at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, will be the plenary speaker at the Ryan Center for Biblical Studies’ 2020 Spring Bible Conference March 6-7.

The conference’s topic is “The Defeat of the Unholy Triumvirate,” and Carson will be teaching from the book of Revelation, chapters 12-14. Carson will speak in three plenary sessions during the conference: one on Friday evening and two on Saturday.

“We are particularly delighted to invite back to our campus Dr. D.A. Carson, one of the preeminent Bible scholars of our day and a powerful preacher,” said Ray Van Neste, dean for the School of Theology and Missions and professor of biblical studies. “Because the book of Revelation is so challenging, we have asked him to address a portion of that book to help us understand and apply this important book well.”

Carson is the author of substantial commentaries of the Gospels of Matthew and John, as well as the pastoral theology book, “How Long O Lord: Reflections on Suffering and Evil.” For decades, Carson has extensively studied the book of Revelation.

The conference will also include parallel sessions on Revelation led by School of Theology and Missions faculty members including Hal Poe, Mark Catlin, Brad Green and Jacob Shatzer. The conference is intended for pastors, Sunday school teachers, Bible study leaders and anyone who wants to better understand the Bible, Van Neste said.

The Spring Bible Conference cost is $40 for those who register on or before March 2, and $60 after that date. Registration includes sessions, two meals and a continental breakfast. More details, including discounted lodging and the full conference schedule, can be found online (www.uu.edu/centers/biblical/bible-conference/2020/).
