JACKSON, Tenn. — Feb. 11, 2019 — Jim Shaddix, W.A. Criswell Chair of Expository Preaching at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, will be the primary speaker at the Ryan Center for Biblical Studies’ 2019 Spring Bible Conference March 15-16.
“Revival” is the theme of this year’s conference. Shaddix will speak on the theme of “Revival and the Word of God,” showing the Bible as both the source and destination of renewal in the church.
“When I think of Jim Shaddix, the first thing that I think of is his passion for expository preaching of the Bible,” said Ray Van Neste, director of the Ryan Center. “Through his books and conversations, a deep desire to form faithful expositors flows from him. We’ve seen this especially in his significant work of mentoring young pastors, many who have gone on to be leaders in Southern Baptist life.”
Shaddix has pastored churches across the country and taught preaching at two Southern Baptist seminaries. He also directs Southeastern's Center for Preaching and Pastoral Leadership.
He will speak in three sessions at the conference, beginning Friday evening and concluding Saturday afternoon. The conference will also include parallel sessions on revival and the Bible led by faculty members in the School of Theology and Missions including Van Neste, Kevin Chen, Brad Green and Paul Jackson.
“The conference is designed for pastors, Sunday school teachers, Bible study leaders and really anyone who wants to understand the Bible better,” Van Neste said.
Cost for the conference is $30 on or before March 6 and $50 after that date. The price includes two meals and a continental breakfast. More information, including discounted lodging and the full schedule for the conference, can be found .
