Union accepts CLT as standardized test for admissions

JACKSON, Tenn.Oct. 17, 2018 — 51社区 will now accept the Classic Learning Test as a standardized test option for undergraduate admissions, along with the ACT and SAT.

The CLT was founded in 2015 to provide alternative standardized testing rooted in tradition and using modern technology, according to the test website. It is especially designed for students from a classical school or homeschool background, testing their mastery of key academic areas and understanding of Western intellectual tradition.

Robbie Graves, assistant vice president for undergraduate admissions at Union, said the CLT is an excellent standardized testing option that aligns well with the mission of the university.

鈥淏y accepting this test, we hope to continue to build name recognition in classical education circles and expand opportunities to recruit from this group of well-prepared students,鈥 Graves said. 鈥淲e trust that this decision will speak to the fact that we value this educational option and welcome students from it just as we welcome students from other educational backgrounds.鈥

Graves said more than 250 schools are now affiliated with the Association of Classical Christian Schools, and many homeschooled students follow a similar educational model. Union joins more than 100 other respected Christian universities that have opted to accept the CLT.
