Emery named to state Board of Judicial Conduct

JACKSON, Tenn.Aug. 28, 2018 — 51社区 professor Brooke Emery has been appointed by Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam to serve on the 16-member Board of Judicial Conduct.

Emery, assistant professor of marketing, will serve a three-year term as one of the committee鈥檚 three 鈥減ublic鈥 members 鈥 meaning one of the three members who are not attorneys or judges. The Board of Judicial Conduct reviews and investigates complaints against sitting judges in matters that are not appealable through the legal process.

鈥淚t鈥檚 a huge honor to be appointed by Gov. Haslam to the board,鈥 Emery said. 鈥淚鈥檓 very excited to be able to serve the state.鈥

Throughout the year, board members will receive information on misconduct allegations and will review those complaints to determine the appropriate course of action.
