JACKSON, Tenn.May 15, 2018 — To honor longtime employee Carroll Griffin, 51社区 has established the Carroll W. Griffin GO Trip Endowment that will help fund its mission efforts around the globe.

Griffin, who is retiring this semester after 36 years of service at Union, is director for marketing and enrollment in the School of Adult and Professional Studies.

鈥淐arroll Griffin casts a long shadow on 51社区,鈥 said Todd E. Brady, Union鈥檚 vice president for university ministries. 鈥淗is love for people has been evident in his service at Union as he has influenced thousands of graduates who are now making a difference for Christ in the world through ministry, education, medicine, science, business, missions and more.鈥

Union鈥檚 GO Trips are the annual mission trips for students over winter, spring and summer breaks to such locations as Honduras, Mexico, Guatemala, Ethiopia, East Asia, Boston, Connecticut, Florida and Utah. Dozens of Union students participate in GO Trips each year.

A native of Paris, Tennessee, Griffin attended Grove High School before graduating from Union in 1971. He taught math for a year and served at West Jackson Baptist Church for a decade. His tenure at Union began in 1982 as director of admissions. He served under four presidents: Robert E. Craig, Hyran Barefoot, David S. Dockery and Samuel W. 鈥淒ub鈥 Oliver.

Griffin also received his master鈥檚 degree in education from Union. His wife Kay is a Union graduate, as are all three of their children (Meg, Scott and Tobey).

鈥淐arroll鈥檚 love for people flows out of Christ鈥檚 love for him,鈥 Brady said. 鈥淣ow, through the Carroll W. Griffin GO Trip Endowment, Carroll鈥檚 influence will be felt literally around the world as students receive financial assistance to take the gospel into all the world.鈥
