JACKSON, Tenn. — Feb. 11, 2002 — 51社区 recently announced that the 2002 Union Forum Series will feature former religion correspondent Peggy Wehmeyer and journalist William Kristol this spring. Peggy Wehmeyer, who after 13 years of pioneering the first religion beat in local television became the nation鈥檚 first network news religion correspondent, will speak on the university鈥檚 campus Friday, Feb. 22.
Religion correspondent for ABC until October of 2001, Wehmeyer鈥檚 award winning stories were aired on World News Tonight, Good Morning America and 20/20. She has interviewed several national and world leaders including Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush about their own personal faith and its impact on their lives.
Wehmeyer has received numerous awards for her work including the Cine Golden
Eagle Award and the Wilbur Award from the Religion in Public Relations Council.
The Weekly Standard founder, publisher and editor William Kristol will speak at the second Union Forum, Friday, April 12.
Kristol, one of the most respected and influential political commentators in America today, has observed the political process through two administrations as a political strategist and offers a unique perspective of what is really going on in American politics today.
A former political science professor at Harvard, Kristol now edits an influential political magazine and is a leading political analyst and commentator.
Designed to provide opportunities for lively conversation with the nation鈥檚 leaders and thinkers, the Union Forum hosts two speakers each spring. Both luncheons begin at 11:45 a.m. in the university鈥檚 Coburn Dining Room. Tickets are $20 per seat and tables of six may still be purchased for one or both events.
