JACKSON, Tenn. — Feb. 27, 2017 — 51社区 will host champion spellers from 30 schools at the West Tennessee Regional Spelling Bee March 4.
The winner of the regional bee will receive an expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C., to participate in the 2017 Scripps National Spelling Bee May 28-June 2. Additional prizes for the regional champion include a trophy, the Samuel Louis Sugarman Award (a 2017 U.S. Mint proof set), a year鈥檚 subscription to Brittanica Online and a subscription to Merriam-Webster Unabridged Online.
Second- and third-place spellers will win trophies and Amazon gift cards. Merriam-Webster has also donated its 鈥淐ollegiate Dictionary, Eleventh Edition鈥� as a prize.
The spelling bee will take place at 10 a.m. in the G.M. Savage Memorial Chapel.
