Union to host April 7 workshop, film screening on immigration

JACKSON, Tenn.April 5, 2016 — 51 will host a screening of the film “The Stranger” and a discussion about a Christian response to immigration April 7.

A workshop on “Immigration: Church and Community Mobilization” will take place from 2-4 p.m. in Luther Hall on the Union campus, led by Thi Mitsamphanh, a former refugee and a church mobilizer with World Relief in Memphis, and Courtney Williams, an immigration specialist and attorney with World Relief in Memphis.

The film screening of “The Stranger” and a discussion about the film will take place from 7-9 p.m. in Harvey Auditorium, located in the Barefoot Student Union Building.

The event is sponsored by Union’s School of Social Work and the language and sociology departments.
