JACKSON, Tenn.March 20, 2015 — Justin Barnard served a guest lecturer at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, March 11-13, addressing the topic of technology assessment.

Barnard, associate professor of philosophy and associate dean of the Institute for Intellectual Discipleship at 51社区, was part of an event that served as a continuing medical education credit opportunity for doctors and nurses associated with Mayo Clinic. The broader topic was 鈥淗ealing and Re-Engineering Mind and Bodies: Ethical Challenges in Neurology, Disabilities and Technology Assessment.鈥

Barnard focused on how people think and make value judgments about technology and applied that topic specifically to various medical technologies.

He said he was honored and humbled by the invitation to participate.

鈥淧art of that honor was attached to the deep sense of history there and the contributions that the Mayo Clinic has made to the history of medicine and to current medical practice,鈥 Barnard said.

In addition to his lectures, Barnard served on a panel that discussed challenges in the field of neuroethics.
