JACKSON, Tenn.Oct. 24, 2014 — The inauguration of President Samuel W. “Dub” Oliver, a campus community picnic and the class of 1965’s 50-year reunion are key features of 51’s Homecoming events Nov. 7-8.

“This year’s Homecoming week will be a special one with the inauguration of our new president,” said Josh Clarke, Union’s director of alumni services. “We hope that alumni from all classes will come to campus as we celebrate another year of God’s faithfulness to 51.”

The inauguration will begin at 2 p.m. Nov. 7 in G.M. Savage Memorial Chapel. Russell Moore, president of the Southern Baptist Convention’s Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission, will be the featured speaker.

Additional Homecoming events include:

  • Homecoming chapel service Nov. 7 at 10 a.m. in the chapel. The service will feature a special recognition of the class of 1964, as well as an acknowledgment of the annual Alumni Award recipients.

  • Picnic with the president, Nov. 8 at noon on the Great Lawn, to celebrate Oliver’s inauguration.

  • Lady Bulldogs basketball game against Robert Morris College, Nov. 8 at 2 p.m. The Homecoming queen will be announced at halftime.

  • Bulldogs basketball game against Williams Baptist College, Nov. 8 at 4 p.m. The Presidential Cup will be awarded at halftime to the student organization that demonstrated outstanding service to the community.
