JACKSON, Tenn.July 3, 2014 — Kelly Harden, director of Union鈥檚 Doctor of Nursing Practice track and associate dean of graduate programs in the School of Nursing, was selected to the 2014 Fellows of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners program.

Harden鈥檚 selection to FAANP was based on her accomplishments and her commitment to advancing the nurse practitioner role. The recognition honors those who have made outstanding contributions to health care through clinical practice, research, education or policy.

Harden leads a group of nurse practitioners and students to the Dominican Republic every year to provide health care in remote villages. She practices in a rural, nurse practitioner-owned clinic and is active in professional organizations on multiple levels.

鈥淭his is an unparalleled opportunity to join a group of dedicated and talented health care professionals as we attempt to impact healthcare locally, nationally and globally,鈥 Harden said. 鈥淚 pray that I will use any influence that may come with this accolade to further the kingdom of God by serving as his hands and feet.鈥
