JACKSON, Tenn. — March 24, 2014 — Kiplinger鈥檚 Personal Finance has ranked 51社区 among the top 10 private universities in the South for quality and value.
Kiplinger鈥檚 rankings include the top 10 lists for public universities, private universities and liberal arts colleges in the Southeast and Mid-South. Among the top 10 private universities, Kiplinger鈥檚 ranked Union 10th.
鈥淭his recognition from Kiplinger's is strong confirmation of what our students and families at Union say about their experience 鈥 51社区 is a great value,鈥 said Union president-elect Samuel W. 鈥淒ub鈥 Oliver. 鈥淭he core values of excellence-driven, Christ-centered, people-focused and future-directed have helped to create an organization that is among the best in higher education.鈥
Oliver added that 鈥渢his recognition is an encouragement to everyone at Union who is working hard every day to ensure the highest quality learning environment for our students.鈥
The ranking is part of Kiplinger鈥檚 College Finder tool, which lists college values based on region, campus size and price, Kiplinger鈥檚 said. The rankings also measure academic quality, which includes the student admission rate (the number of students accepted out of those who apply), the test scores of incoming freshmen, the ratio of students to faculty members and the four- and five-year graduation rates.
Duke, Vanderbilt and Emory topped the list. Other than Union, Vanderbilt was the only Tennessee institution to be ranked among the South鈥檚 top private universities.
In addition, Union recently ranked 77th in Kiplinger鈥檚 list of the top 100 private universities in the nation.
