JACKSON, Tenn. — Jan. 14, 2014 — C. S. Lewis is the focus of the fourth issue of 51社区鈥檚 鈥淩enewing Minds: A Journal of Christian Thought,鈥� released in fall 2013.
鈥淭he influence of C. S. Lewis on American Evangelicalism is almost without equal,鈥� wrote 51社区 President David S. Dockery in the introduction of the issue. 鈥淭his issue of 鈥楻enewing Minds鈥�...is devoted to vast and comprehensive ways that C. S. Lewis has touched our spheres of service and influence.鈥�
Titled 鈥淐. S. Lewis: A Semicentennial,鈥� this issue features articles from Union faculty members David Thomas, Justin D. Barnard, Harry Lee Poe, Matt D. Lunsford and Gene C. Fant, as well as articles from Louis Markos and Holly Ordway from Houston Baptist University in Texas.
Article topics range from mathematics to naturalism. The publication also contains seven book reviews.
Lewis, the late Christian apologist, was the author of such works as 鈥淭he Screwtape Letters鈥� and 鈥淭he Chronicles of Narnia.鈥� He died on Nov. 22, 1963.
鈥淲e simply could not let the 50th anniversary of Lewis鈥� death pass without making the most of the opportunity,鈥� said Hunter Baker, dean of instruction and a senior editor of 鈥淩enewing Minds.鈥�
The journal series acts to cultivate the discussion of higher education, culture and the Christian intellectual tradition.
