Union speaker to focus on “Islam and America”

JACKSON, Tenn.Nov. 21, 2001 — 51 will sponsor the Jones Lecture featuring speaker James Chancellor, a foremost authority on Islam in Southern Baptist life, on Monday, Nov. 26 at 10 a.m. in the G. M. Savage Memorial Chapel. He will speak on Islamic fundamentalism and “The Moral Structure of Islam.”

Chancellor received his Ph.D. in Islam and World Religions from Duke University and a master’s degree in history from the University of Nebraska. He holds the W.O. Carver Chair in World Missions and World Religions at Southern Seminary. Prior to this appointment he served as dean at Colorado Christian University.
