JACKSON, Tenn. — June 11, 2013 — Oklahoma Baptist University presented 51社区 President David S. Dockery with its Herschel H. Hobbs Award for Distinguished Denominational Service June 11 at a reception in the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas.
Hobbs, one of the Southern Baptist Convention鈥檚 leading theologians for decades, was the longtime pastor of First Baptist Church in Oklahoma City.
鈥淚 am deeply touched and greatly honored,鈥� Dockery said at the reception, held during the SBC鈥檚 annual meeting. 鈥淚 loved Herschel Hobbs. To receive an award with his name on it means more to me than you will ever know.鈥�
David Whitlock, president of OBU, said Dockery was chosen for the award based on his 鈥減rofound impact on our denomination as a whole.鈥�
