JACKSON, Tenn. — March 7, 2013 — Ashley Pugh, a third-year pharmacy student at 51社区, was one of 12 pharmacy students nationally to receive a 2013 student scholarship from the American Pharmacists Association Foundation.
The awards were presented March 4 at the APhA annual meeting in Los Angeles.
鈥淚 am humbled to be recognized as a leader by the APhA Foundation,鈥� Pugh said. 鈥淚 am very passionate about the practice of pharmacy, and the experience I have gained by involvement with APhA. It has been tremendously rewarding.鈥�
To be chosen for this award, students must demonstrate leadership skills and strong academics through active involvement in their schools鈥� APhA Academy of Student Pharmacists chapter.
鈥淭he goal of being a leader in pharmacy is ultimately to improve the lives of patients,鈥� Pugh said. 鈥淚 plan to continue to be involved with the community through the duration of my time as a student and maintain this involvement as I begin my career as a pharmacist.鈥�
