Lindsay Garner, of Jackson, Tennessee, and Josh Betts of Memphis appear as Mrs. Louise Harrington and Walter Langer, the tutor, in Peter Shaffer鈥檚 prize winning play, Five Finger Exercise.

The 51社区 Department of Theatre will present Five-Finger Exercise by Peter Shaffer in the Powell Theatre Thursday, Nov. 8-13. The story of a family in conflict and the events that unfold when a young tutor is introduced into their lives was the winner of both the New York Drama Critics鈥 Award and the Even Standard Drama Award. Rich characterization, articulate dialogue and the frightening final scene will keep the audience involved through the last word. The thought provoking show is comparable to Shaffer鈥檚 other award-winning plays including Amadeus and The Royal Hunt of the Sun.

鈥淭his is a quality script and our student actors and cast have really bought into the production,鈥 said director Wayne Johnson, associate professor of speech and theatre. 鈥淎fter only the first week of rehearsal, I was amazed and thrilled with our progress.鈥

Tickets are $3 for students and $7 for others. All show times are at 8 p.m. with the exception of a 2:30 p.m. matinee on Sunday. A cast reception and buffet will follow the final curtain on opening night. Reservations can be made by calling the box office at (731) 661-5105.
