JACKSON, Tenn. — Nov. 6, 2001 — 51社区鈥檚 Department of Physical Education, Wellness and Sport will host the 2001 TAPHERD Professionals Program Conference, Thurs., Nov. 8- Sat., Nov. 10. The theme for this year鈥檚 conference will focus on the diverse interests of common goals. The program, a statewide conference sponsored by the Tennessee Association for Physical Health, Education, Recreation and Dance, is intended to inform those in and looking to go pursue educational vocations that deal with sports, health, wellness, and physical education.
Registration for the conference will begin Thurs., Nov. 8 from 5-8 p.m. in the Fred DeLay Gymnasium lobby. The opening ceremonies, titled 鈥淎 World of Physical Education鈥 will begin at 7 p.m. in the gym, and will involve elementary school children from all over the Jackson area demonstrating creative movement and physical skills.
Friday鈥檚 events include hour-long discussions on a variety of topics such as 鈥淢arketing and Promotion of Minor League Baseball in Tenn.,鈥 led by Martie Cordaro, 鈥淢y Degree didn鈥檛 Cover That!鈥 led by John Howse and Lee Allsbrook, and 鈥淧hysical Education for the Multi-Disabled Student,鈥 led Nancy Whitehurst. The discussions will begin at 8 a.m. with the last discussion group beginning at 3:35 p.m. Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. and dinner will be served at 5 p.m. Workshops will continue into Saturday beginning at 8 a.m. and concluding with lunch. All meals are included in the registration fee.
