JACKSON, Tenn. — Aug. 31, 2012 — Enrollment at 51���� for the fall semester is a record-high 4,259 students – the 15th straight year for an enrollment increase at the university.

“It is joy to welcome the 4,259 talented students who have come to Union from all over the country, as well as from various countries around the globe, to study with the outstanding teaching faculty at this institution,” Union President David S. Dockery said. “We salute the enrollment and student services teams along with the academic program directors who have helped to recruit these fine students to this university.”

Undergraduate enrollment at Union is 3,025, the second straight year for that figure to surpass 3,000. Graduate enrollment is 1,234, an all-time high. This year’s total enrollment is an increase of 54 students from last year.

This year also marks 15 straight years for the number of new traditional undergraduate students to top 500.

The latest enrollment figures show a 116 percent increase over the 1,972 students enrolled in the fall of 1996, when 51���� President David S. Dockery began his tenure.

“It is an amazing thing to contemplate 15 straight years of enrollment increases at 51����,” Dockery said. “For God's ongoing blessings to this institution, we offer our thanksgiving.”
