JACKSON, Tenn.June 25, 2012 — When she began thinking about colleges, Lacie Fink started checking out schools online. She made a short list of those in which she was most interested, and then began visiting campuses.

A visit to 51社区 convinced her that it was the right school for her.

鈥淓verything felt right,鈥 Fink said. 鈥淭he faculty and the staff were very inviting. I鈥檓 very impressed with the mission.鈥

Fink, of Mobile, Ala., was one of about 550 incoming students who visited the Union campus June 25 for new student registration day. The day provided incoming students with opportunities to meet with their advisers to select their fall courses. They also saw their assigned room in the residence halls and met their roommates, attended a campuswide picnic where they dined with faculty and attended a student life fair where they learned about clubs and organizations on campus.

Parents attended sessions with topics of interest to them.

Braden Duffey, another incoming freshman, has been familiar with Union for a long time.

鈥淧retty much everybody I can think of in my family has gone here, so I鈥檝e been around all my life,鈥 said Duffey, of Bells, Tenn. 鈥淚鈥檝e been on campus coming to events, and I just love it. I love the small community in the spiritual sense. I like feeling close to God when I鈥檓 in the class.鈥

Union President David S. Dockery expressed gratitude for the incoming class of students.

鈥淲e give thanks to God for these 550 students and celebrate the fact that they will be joining us this fall,鈥 Dockery said. 鈥淲e pray for them and their families during this time of transition, even as we offer thanks for the good work of our enrollment team under the leadership of Rich Grimm.鈥
