JACKSON, Tenn.March 7, 2012 — To promote cross-cultural communication and to celebrate cultural diversity, 51社区 will hold its third annual CultureFest March 9.

The event will feature student displays, authentic cultural cuisine in the Brewer Dining Hall, a chapel address by Tite Ti茅nou of Trinity Evangelical Divinity School and musical performances in Barefoots Joe.

Ti茅nou, senior vice president of education and dean of Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, will speak at 10 a.m. in G.M. Savage Memorial Chapel. Ti茅nou is the author of several books and articles, including 鈥淭he Theological Task of the Church in Africa鈥 and 鈥淎frica Journal of Evangelical Theology.鈥

At 11:30 a.m., the main hallway of the Student Union Building will be filled with a variety of cultural displays by students, faculty and staff representing different cultures and regions of the world. Using artwork, artifacts, clothing, music and food samples, these displays will offer glimpses and tastes of the cultural diversity that exists in the Union community, with 44 states and 33 countries represented.

Musical performances representing various cultures will also take place in Barefoots Joe from 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m.

The event is sponsored by Union鈥檚 Intercultural Community Council.
