JACKSON, Tenn.Feb. 28, 2012 — Image journal has named Bobby Rogers, professor of English and writer in residence at 51社区, as its artist of the month for February.

鈥淏obby C. Rogers has an uncanny ability to wring what is profound and surprising from what appears humble and ordinary,鈥 the journal said. 鈥淚n the words of Andrew Hudgins, he is 鈥榓 near mystic of the domestic.鈥欌

Image is a literary and arts quarterly founded in 1989 for writing and artwork that is informed by religious faith.

鈥淩ogers鈥 gentle, confident voice reveals a spaciousness in commonplace things,鈥 the journal said. 鈥淗e can almost make you believe that the world around you, the very room you鈥檙e sitting in, no matter how unpoetic it may appear, holds the answers to the most profound questions in creation.鈥

Rogers said he was honored by the recognition.

鈥淓very Christian artist with a serious vocation is aware of what鈥檚 going on at Image,鈥 Rogers said. 鈥淚鈥檓 always thrilled to have a poem in the paper and ink journal, and I was doubly gratified that the editors thought highly enough of my work to feature it for a month on their website.鈥

The full site, which includes a more detailed description of Rogers鈥 work as well as a short biography and a link to one of Rogers鈥 poems, is available at .
