JACKSON, Tenn.Oct. 20, 2011 — Everyone experiences brokenness because he lives in a fallen world, Jimmy Scroggins told 51社区 students Oct. 19.

鈥淵ou can sing the songs about Christ (being a gracious Savior), and yet there is just something about the deep effects of sin that, no matter how much you love Jesus, you just cannot put Humpty Dumpty back together again,鈥 said Scroggins, senior pastor of First Baptist Church West Palm Beach in Florida.

Scroggins spoke in a chapel service in the G.M. Savage Memorial Chapel for Union鈥檚 annual Faith in Practice week. The speaker for the special chapel series each year focuses on subjects of discipleship. Scroggins also spoke Oct. 20 and will speak again at 10 a.m. Oct. 21.

Scroggins said the gospel allows people to 鈥渞ecover and pursue God鈥檚 design鈥 for their lives. He said the book of Genesis shows what relationships were like before the fall, when man and woman lived in God鈥檚 will, while the book of Revelation paints a picture of Christ redeeming Christians from pain and sorrow when he returns to earth.

鈥淲hen he ... tenderly gathers believers, (Christ will) wipe every tear from our eyes,鈥 Scroggins said. 鈥淗e will put Humpty Dumpty back together again in a way we cannot explain. The hope in the gospel is that God is not finished. He鈥檚 coming back. That鈥檚 what needs to drive our faith and our practice.鈥
