JACKSON, Tenn. — Oct. 6, 2011 — 51社区鈥檚 School of Education will hold a screening of the movie 鈥淩ace to Nowhere鈥� Oct. 18.
鈥淩ace to Nowhere,鈥� created by first-time filmmaker Vicki Abeles, tells the stories of young people under tremendous amounts of stress, burned-out teachers and deeply frustrated parents.
According to the film鈥檚 official website, 鈥淩ace to Nowhere鈥� examines a culture in which cheating has become commonplace, students are disengaged, stress-related illness and depression are rampant and many young people arrive at college and the workplace unprepared and uninspired.
The movie 鈥渋s a call to action for families, educators and policy makers to challenge current assumptions on how to best prepare the youth of America to become healthy, bright, contributing and leading citizens,鈥� the website says.
Following the movie, Tom Rosebrough, executive dean of the College of Education and Human Studies, will facilitate a discussion.
The screening will begin at 6 p.m. in the Carl Grant Events Center and is open to the public. Those attending are asked to register at .
