Family members to visit Union campus for Family Weekend 2011

JACKSON, Tenn.Sept. 29, 2011 — About 250 families of 51社区 students will visit campus Sept. 30-Oct. 2 for Family Weekend 2011.

鈥淔amily Weekend is a great opportunity for families to come and get a glimpse into the lives of their college student,鈥 said Jarad Russell, assistant resident director of the Heritage Complex at Union. 鈥淲e offer a lot of events that allow parents to experience Union culture and to meet some of the people that are living life with their son or daughter.鈥

As part of Family Weekend, parents and siblings can attend classes with their Union students, attend optional workshops, and visit their students鈥 rooms. Other events that are part of the weekend:

  • a chapel service at 10 a.m. on Sept. 30 with Todd Brady, special assistant to the president for university relations at Union.

  • a Make-a-Wish cookout, to support the Make-a-Wish Foundation, from 6-8 p.m. Sept. 30 in the Bowld Commons and the Grace Quad, sponsored by the ladies of Chi Omega and the Aramark staff.

  • Movie on the Lawn from 8-10 p.m. Sept. 30 in Watters Quad.

  • Friday night sibling sleepover, when siblings may stay overnight in the room of their brother or sister.

  • brunch with President David S. Dockery at 10 a.m. Oct. 1 in the Carl Grant Events Center.

  • All Sing at 7 p.m. Oct. 1 in the G.M. Savage Memorial Chapel. All Sing is a musical competition open to all organizations on campus.
