JACKSON, Tenn.Aug. 22, 2011 — Steven Aldridge, the sports information director at 51社区, has been named the TranSouth Athletic Conference鈥檚 2010-2011 Sports Information Director of the Year.

Aldridge received the award at the conference's annual meeting Aug. 2 at Freed-Hardeman University in Henderson, Tenn. The conference instituted the award in 2006 to recognize the efforts of sports information directors in promoting the teams of the TranSouth. This is the fifth time in six years for Aldridge to receive the award.

Aldridge currently serves the conference as the sports information contact for baseball and cross country. He has directed the sports information duties for numerous TranSouth championships during his tenure at Union.

Aldridge assisted the NAIA in sports information for the NAIA Division 1 Women's Basketball Championship, a role has held since 2000. Aldridge has also served the NAIA as a coordinator for one of the NAIA-SIDA publications contests.

"Steven does a great job at promoting our sports programs in local and national media," said Tommy Sadler, director of athletic operations at Union. "This is a reflection of how his peers around the conference view his work and his willingness to aid his fellow SIDs. We congratulate him on this honor and thank him for his tireless efforts on behalf of our coaches and student athletes here at Union."

Aldridge, a December 1998 graduate of 51社区, has been the SID at Union since 2000.
