JACKSON, Tenn. — Feb. 24, 2011 — In a continuing series of podcast interviews, 51社区 faculty members who have taken recent research leaves talk about their work and how their research enhanced their scholarship and teaching.
Among the podcasts recently posted are interviews with Brad Green and David McClune. Green, associate professor of Christian thought and tradition, spent four months at Tyndale House in Cambridge, England, where he drew upon the resources of this center for biblical research as he worked on four book projects.
McClune, university professor of music, spent three months touring hundreds of churches and museums in Italy so he could incorporate his discoveries into classroom instruction.
Faculty research leaves are a component of Union鈥檚 faculty development program, which provides the needed time and space for faculty members to develop their ideas to further their research projects and enhance their teaching.
The podcast interviews are designed to show how many different ways the research leave can be used. In recent years, some faculty members have traveled the world to conduct research, while others have stayed close to home and used the time away from their classrooms to read and reflect on future projects.
