JACKSON, Tenn. — Nov. 6, 2010 — To celebration National Nurse Practitioner Week Nov. 7-13, the School of Nursing at 51社区 Germantown will hold a Willow Ceremony Nov. 11 at the Germantown campus.
The ceremony is a way to honor Union鈥檚 nurse practitioner students and preceptors, said Patsy Crihfield, associate professor of nursing at 51社区 Germantown.
鈥淯nion began observing the ceremony in 2008,鈥� Crihfield said. 鈥淭he willow tree could symbolize nurse practitioners in that they are both strong, but have flexibility to reach out. The nurse practitioner is often the first health care provider many people in rural and remote areas will see.鈥�
