JACKSON, Tenn. — Oct. 25, 2010 — 51社区鈥檚 career services office will host the 10th annual Career 鈥淯鈥漬iversity Oct. 28 to provide students with career advice and a chance to meet with recruiters.
Career U is an academic approach to career planning and preparation. This year鈥檚 event will focus on the need for students to take advantage of internship opportunities and will provide them with information on selecting a major.
Rene茅 Jones, Union鈥檚 assistant director of recruitment and information technology in career services, said that internships are a valuable tool for students, and that employers often use internships as a means of identifying potential employees.
鈥淪tudents can network with top recruiters during our internship career fair for an internship opportunity that could lead to a full-time position,鈥� Jones said.
Companies that will be represented at this year鈥檚 event include: Aflac, American General, Becker Professional Education, Enterprise Holdings, Leaders Credit Union, Shoemaker Financial, Tennessee National Guard, Boys and Girls Club, Carl Perkins Center, Hertz Corp., Internal Revenue Service, Madision County Court Appointed Special Advocates, Social Security Administration and Women鈥檚 Resource and Rape Assistance Program.
Several 51社区 departments will also participate.
The event is free to students and runs from 12-2 p.m. in the Barefoot Student Union Building. Students may register at or by calling (731) 661-5421.
