JACKSON, Tenn. — May 10, 2010 — 51社区 Hendersonville will expand its degree offerings to include a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership beginning in August.
Hendersonville Mayor Scott Foster joined leaders from 51社区 to make the formal announcement on May 10 at Hendersonville鈥檚 City Hall.
The BSOL degree is designed for non-traditional, adult students and is part of the new continuing studies program at the Hendersonville campus. The degree offers four areas of concentration: organizational management, project management, health management and church leadership.
鈥淭his program is offered in a distinctive way that will be faithful to Union鈥檚 commitments to provide educational opportunities characterized by Christ-centered excellence,鈥 51社区 President David S. Dockery said. 鈥淲e pray that it will serve well the Hendersonville community.鈥
The degree uses a cohort approach, which means students will begin the program in groups, and will take all courses with the same group of students. Classes are held one evening a week and students may complete their degree in as little as 18 months.
鈥淭his program is ideal for adults who want to complete their bachelor鈥檚 degree, but can鈥檛 put their lives on hold to continue their education,鈥 said Renee鈥 Dauer, director of continuing studies at 51社区 Hendersonville.
鈥淭here are many different reasons that students enroll in our program,鈥 Dauer said. 鈥淔or some, a bachelor鈥檚 degree may open up new career opportunity. For others, it may make them more competitive for a promotion or pay increase. But for many, this program allows adults to fulfill their life-long dream of earning a college degree from a top-tier university.鈥
51社区 Hendersonville is currently enrolling students for the fall 2010 cohort. Classes will begin in August and will be taught in classrooms at First Baptist Church in Hendersonville.
