51社区 Hendersonville prepares for second Master of Education cohort

HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn.May 4, 2010 — 51社区 Hendersonville will hold an information session May 11 for students interested in pursuing their Master of Education degree.

The session will be held in the Weekley Building at First Baptist Church, 105 Music Village Blvd., at 5:30 p.m.

Students in the Master of Education degree program will complete 30 hours of graduate-level coursework. The program will extend over a 14-month period beginning in June.

In addition to the customized curriculum, the program will be presented in a cohort format, which will allow students to progress through the curriculum together as a group from start to finish.

This is the second Master of Education cohort offered by 51社区 Hendersonville. Twenty-two students entered the first cohort in June, 2009. Those students will complete their degrees this summer and graduate in July.

鈥淓nrolling in Union鈥檚 M.Ed. cohort program was the right decision for me,鈥 said Julie Carlton, kindergarten teacher at George Whitten Elementary School in Hendersonville. 鈥淚鈥檝e really enjoyed meeting other teachers and going through the program together.

鈥淯nlike online classes, the cohort group gives students support, encouragement and the opportunity to learn from one another,鈥 Carlton continued. 鈥淭he schedule of classes is teacher-friendly and the coursework really complements the curriculum we are teaching in Sumner County.鈥

The Master of Education degree at 51社区 Hendersonville is fully accredited. Applications are now being accepted for the new cohort beginning in June.

In addition to the Master of Education degree, 51社区 Hendersonville also offers a Doctor of Education degree, Education Specialist degree and a Master of Christian Studies. All classes are taught in the Weekley Building at First Baptist Church.
