Union offers students Career University

JACKSON, Tenn.Sept. 19, 2001 — 51社区 students will get a jumpstart on the job market during the first annual Career University, sponsored by the university鈥檚 Office of Career Services, which will be held Wednesday, Oct. 3. The day will include several 20-minute sessions for college juniors, seniors, and students in the BSOL and MBA tracks.

鈥淐areer U is a new, innovative and exciting approach to career success!鈥 said Jackie Taylor, assistant director of career services at Union. 鈥淲e will concentrate on empowering and equipping students with the right tools to search for, obtain and keep their ideal job.鈥

A variety of topics will be discussed at the sessions including The Nitty Gritty 311: The Job Search led by Paige Holmes, SIFE advisor at 51社区; Knock 鈥楨m Dead 211: What Your Resume Doesn鈥檛 Say led by Blake White, HR Manager for Pictsweet Foods, and Marketing U 211: Selling Yourself During the Interview led by Kristy Marter, Recruiting Manager for Enterprise Corporation.

A pizza party and panel discussion will be held at 4:30 p.m. in Harvey Auditorium where representatives from the university and the corporate world will be present. Concluding the day鈥檚 events will be a 鈥淒ress for Success鈥 on a Budget鈥 business dress fashion show at 5:30 p.m., also in Harvey Auditorium.
