JACKSON, Tenn. — March 4, 2010 — Students from 34 West Tennessee schools will compete March 6 in The Jackson Sun鈥檚 2010 Spelling Bee sponsored by 51社区.
Spellers will range in age from third to eighth grades, with the winner moving on to the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C., May 24-29.

This is the first year Union has sponsored the final rounds of the spelling competition. Qualifying rounds were completed between October and Feb. 5 in a 13-county area of West Tennessee.
Union English professor Gavin Richardson will be the pronouncer for the spelling bee, which begins at 10 a.m. in the Carl Grant Events Center on Union鈥檚 campus.
